Hello and Welcome!
My name is Katie Wilson. I have been a performer, writer, director, and producer in comedy for over a decade. As a faculty member of The Second City Training Center, Chicago, I teach Improv (all ages), Conservatory (sketch comedy), and Public Speaking. In 2023, I completed The Directing Program at The Second City directing the show Can't Stop, Won't Stop... Apologizing. In addition to directing my own original revue, I was cast in the show Friends with Health Benefits directed by Lisa Bany.
My most recent directorial credit, Meditations for Imperfect People, a sketch revue written and produced by Marae Ashmore, premiered at The Bughouse Theater in Chicago, Illinois in February 2024. It was met with multiple sold out performances and positive reviews! This show was extended to The DaMaat Theater in April! Currently, I am debuting a touring sketch revue with my long-time writing partner, Meredith Jacobs! Our show, We Thought This Was a Good Idea? We began previews in Minneapolis, Minnesota at Bryant Lake Bowl Theater in February 2024 and made out first stop in Chicago in April 2024. |
Recently, at KO Comedy (an online comedy club created by Sammy Obeid) I served as Executive Producer for Chemistry Test with Sammy Obeid (2022-2023), and Producer, Staff Writer, and Performer for SO Happy Hour with Sammy Obeid (2021-2022).
I have trained at many comedy institutions including: The Groundling School (Writing a TV Pilot), The Second City Training Center (stand-up, sketch, improv, and late night writing), Comedysportz Twin Cities (short-form improv), and The Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis (long-form improv).
Before my move to Chicago, I created sketch comedy with Classic Alley Performers (Productions) in Minneapolis from 2017 to 2021. We generated a combination of online and live comedy revues with Strike Theater. Classic Alley's past sketches can be found on Youtube. From 2019 to 2022, I was also a member of Ladybrain Sketch Comedy. Ladybrain received the "Underdog" Golden Lanyard Award (Best New Artist) at the Minnesota Fringe Festival in 2019.
